- 10K chains
- Often stamped 417 — durable, lower gold content
- 14K chains
- Stamped 585 or 14K — the American standard
- 18K chains
- Stamped 750 — heavier gold content, softer metal
- Hollow vs solid
- Hollow chains weigh less but are paid at the same per-gram rate
How we price it
Every chain is weighed separately so a heavy 14K piece is never averaged down by a light 10K one.
Hollow rope and herringbone chains are genuine gold and paid at the same rate per gram — they simply weigh less.
Clasps, spring rings and any non-gold findings are deducted before we quote.
