For most pieces, value starts with the metal: karat times weight times today's market.
Diamonds over roughly a third of a carat add meaningful value and are graded on cut, color, clarity and carat weight.
Recognized makers and genuine antique pieces can be worth well above melt, and we always check before quoting scrap.
