Sterling is 92.5% pure silver, so a 100-gram sterling item contains 92.5 grams of silver.
Pre-1965 US dimes, quarters and half dollars are 90% silver; 1965 to 1970 Kennedy halves are 40%.
Bullion bars and rounds are .999 fine and pay closest to the market because they need no refining.
